Apple rehiring former Newton developer Michael Tchao as VP of Product Marketing according to New York Times. Does that sounds to us that Apple is nearing to roll out its “rumored” Apple Tablet?
Being an Apple fan as well as a person who has always love to get my hands onto the latest gadget, I really can’t wait for Apple to announce its version of Tablet computer. I can vaguely remember Apple Newton back 15 years back – a technology that was way ahead of its time and for my friends who had used the Newton before, they simply love it.
Microsoft has tried its hands on tablet with Windows XP Tablet. Unfortunately many the tablet PCs that was introduced to the market is extremely thick and heavy to carry around and unless you have a strong arm, you would not want to be lugging one to work.
When Steve Jobs pull out the Macbook Air from the vanilla envelope, it really wow the audiences as to how thin a notebook can be. Other technology like the multi-touch iPhone and Microsoft own version of “Surface” computer, is bringing out the best of multi-touch applications to consumer products. TechCrunch also gave a demo of “CrunchPad” and how that works – really cool. Not to forget, Google is also trying its luck with Chrome OS that is build with the Cloud Computing in mind. These are all ingredients to (in my opinion) to a radical design in tablet computer.
Just last week, Gizmodo has an article on Microsoft’s Secret Tablet “Courier” (see article) – a very interesting concept for a tablet and I definitely hope to see this (or even better design – as think as a Macbook Air) in the market.

Microsoft Secret Tablet - Courier
Exciting times ahead if you are a techie like myself that can’t wait to get my hands on these cool gadget. I want my secondary computer that is light and small enough for me to carry around to surf the Internet as well as to do a bit of work. “Give me my Apple Tablet now!”, I really can’t wait for the un-veiling of the radical tablet computer.
