iPad – Finally I got mine

Finally I got my hands on my iPad – something that I have been waiting for quite awhile for the elusive apple tablet computer. The iPad is apple’s response for the need for a tablet computer. While not exactly what I would expect, the device is sufficient for 80% for my daily usage and I have no complain about it. Infact, I am now writing this on my iPad on my lap and I have no problem typing on it.

One thing for sure, the iPad is not going to be your laptop replacement for heavy duty work and/or graphic editing and web production. The iPad is more of a casual machine for me – where
I can spend most of my time sitting in front of my television, watching my favorite movie, while surfing and chatting with my friends on Msn.

I have been using the iPad for 3 whole days already and I must say that I do not really miss the functions that I have on my laptop. What do I do using the iPad? Well, I have been using it to surf the net, type and update my blog, catching up with my daily news (using my trusty newsstand rss reader for the iPad) as well as watching the movies that I have purchased from iTunes.

The most impressive part about the iPad is it’s instant on capability. I do not need to wait for my laptop to boot up, which on the Mac takes about 30s and on a windows machine, takes about 5 mins. It is definitely good for me to quickly fire up my iPad and then search for stuffs.

Initial usage is good. Takes time to get use to the iPad typing though, but this isn’t hard. Now I am really looking forward to the iPhone OS4 for iPad to be out. I am sure that will help me do lots of stuffs on my iPad.
