San Want Residences, Taipei

Being a frequent business traveler, I often look for a comfortable hotel that has good wireless/internet facility, where i can work within the hotel when I do not have any business meeting – and San Want Residences is one of my favorite in Taipei. I have stayed there at least 4 times during my past trips to Taipei and each time, it brings fond memories of the hotel.

Located at 128 Nanjing E. Road Section 1, San Want Residences is conveniently located just 10 mins away from the nearest MRT station (Zhongshan Train Station). Getting to the hotel is not an issue by Taxi. However one thing to note is that there is another San Want Hotel that is located at ZhongXiao E. Road (which is the flagship hotel for San Want Group) – so make sure you tell the driver that it is “Little San Want (小神旺)”.

San Want Hotel - Work Area

Checking into the hotel is a breeze. The hotel check-in staffs know how to speak good English (for those who do not know Mandarin). The moment my cab arrive, I was greeted by the staff at the hotel, who helped me with my luggage and showed me to the check-in counter. Within minutes, I am in my room already. Like most modern hotel these days, the card key for the hotel room are all sensor card. All you need to do is to place the card at the door sensor and it will unlock the door (just be careful not to put near your mobile).

Room is brightly lit with lots of natural lighting (something that I simply love). Everything in the room is nice and tidy with an extremely comfortable bed. The work area is right in front, where the LCD TV is located. This however is one thing that i do not like i.e. it is too close to the TV. I normally prefer a work desk that is distance from the TV and where i can work and watch TV at the same time (but small issue). There is a printer and fax machine in the room for guest that need to use them. For the business traveller, you will really appreciate the choice of wired Internet as well as wireless Internet access available for guest usage (free of charge)

Bath Area

The bath room is of a nice size where there is a separate shower area with a rain shower (something i really appreciate, especially after a long hard day of meeting – i simply just love standing below the rain shower and let the water run). There is also a “sunken” bath tub – very typical of a Japanese tub where you fill it with water and sit in there to soak in the bath. It would be perfect if there is a small TV in front so that you can soak in the shower and watch TV at the same time.

San Want Residences uses Loccitane toiletries – very nice : It shows that that hotel goes for quality when it chooses the toiletries product. In the room, guest are also serve with products from San Want Group (Rice Crackers and Coffee – all complimentary from the hotel).

There is a guest area at the basement of the hotel complete with gym facilities. Also at the basement are meeting facilities for those that want to conduct meetings at the hotel. The guest facility is spacious and guest can relax at the basement to read or work (as if they are in their own living room at home). However, one thing to note is that if you are not a frequent traveler to the hotel, you may not know of this facility it is located at the basement and at night, because of the dim lighting and no staff at the basement, guest may not explore further.

The 2nd floor of the hotel is where the restaurant is located. This is where the hotel serve morning breakfast to the guest and I must say that the hotel serve out excellent breakfast. During the day, the restaurant serve out sumptuous Shanghainese food – probably one of the better ones that I have tasted in Taiwan. One dish that really makes my mouth water is the starter – Pickled Cherry Tomatoes (unfortunately I did not take any picture of it during my last trip). Quality of food is excellent.

If you ask me if i would stay at San Want Residences again, I would give a definitely “yes” to it. It is definitely a very nice and comfortable hotel for both business and leisure travelers and I am sure guest would love the warm hospitality of the hotel. Below are some pictures that I took of the hotel.

Fun review of your experiences with the hotels in Taipei, Desmond.

I like Taipei hotels too – and one of the best parts of my Taiwan travel have often been time spent in the hotel suite haha..
See U too prefer to have natural light in your hotel stay. I insist my suite has to have at least a window – even if the window cannot be opened.

I’ll be glad to share your Taipei hotel experiences with readers in my Taiwan travel websites, that more visitors may read of your fun tales & pics.

    Shall we exchange links?
    Thanks. :-)

Thanks for the comments. Looked at your site taipeidreams.com too. Very interesting site on Taipei. Am sure you are very familiar with Taiwan. I have not been back to Taipei for about a year and love to go there again. Really like their boutique hotels and enjoyed experiencing some of them.

Sure, we can exchange links. No problem with that.
